An exciting opportunity has arisen at West Coventry Academy for the position of Young Persons Support Worker. This is a new role in the school and an opportunity for the successful candidate to work closely with young people and their families. Working alongside the school’s Pastoral team, Attendance team and the Family Support Worker, the successful candidate will be a key person in supporting young people in overcoming barriers to success.
As a Young Persons Support Worker, you will play a vital role in helping students aged 11 to 18 develop emotionally, socially, and personally. This includes:
One-to-one and group support
Coaching and building resilience
Delivering early intervention strategies
Promoting wellbeing, positive behaviour, and inclusion
Liaising with families and multi-agency professionals
Supporting engagement in learning and school life
You will help address issues like mental health, substance misuse, gangs, and low self-esteem, and guide students toward developing confidence and life skills.

What you will need to succeed
A relevant Youth Worker or Learning Mentor qualification, or equivalent experience
Experience working with vulnerable young people
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusted relationships
A patient, flexible, and supportive approach
A good understanding of safeguarding and the ability to act with integrity and professionalism
Be highly motivated and passionate about making a difference to the lives of young people
The ability to work in a fast paced, challenging yet always rewarding role
Be a proactive team player who upholds the values of the ATLP
